April 30

Product Design Guild Ljubljana

LAUNCH EVENT

Monday, 12 May 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m.

IN ASSOCIATION WITH PODIM 2014 Conference, Gigodesign, DsgnFwd, Start:up Slovenia

Product Design Guild (PDG) is a nonprofit organization from San Francisco with events also in New York and London. The main purpose is to promote design guild collaboration and connecting designers, developers and entrepreneurs to build awesome digital products.

PDG is a friendly, professional, relaxed and solution-focused environment where members can help each other out by sharing their experiences, knowledge and provide feedback.

The first Product Design Guild (PDG) meeting in Ljubljana is a result of a collaboration between the Slovenian start-up support environment and digital London Accelerator Firestartr. It will serve as the pre-event to the PODIM 2014 international entrepreneurship and start-up conference, which will take place on 14 and 15 May 2014 in Maribor.

After San Francisco, New York and London, Ljubljana is the fourth pin on the product design guild map and we are very proud of that. The diversity and high-quality of the Slovenian design scene is reflected in the Red Dot and other awards, as well as in the global success of Slovenian start-ups and the global reach of Slovenian Kickstarter projects.

RULES

For the designer guild to become a functioning supportive environment that successfully helps in the development of the profession, they have a few rules:

  • Bring your work with you.
  • Be helpful.
  • People are trusting you, don't be a jerk.

Many designers work on projects of a confidential nature and we respect that. At the same time, it's important that every designer is bringing real work.

Here's some ideas that have worked for our members in the past:
  • Choose a less sensitive piece of work. Even the most confidential works have more general elements that need working on.
  • You may include a proposal that hasn’t been confirmed by the client or the team you’re working with yet.
  • Are you working on nonprofit project, are promoting an event, co-working with a team and you are running out of ideas? I'm sure you have some projects for which you are running out of time or are getting stuck on the little things ... Maybe every so often you run out of motivation?
